In this highly visible role, you’ll sit at the intersection of mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, and supply chain—owning the mechanical design, routing, packaging, and integration of complex wire harness systems. Your work will directly shape reliability, manufacturability, and deployment readiness at grid scale.

Partner with Electrical and Mechanical Engineering in a morning stand-up to unblock harness routing challenges across battery modules and enclosures.

Open Zuken E3 to refine schematics and interconnect documentation, then update 2D/3D harness models and installation drawings in SOLIDWORKS.

Walk the floor with Manufacturing to review strain relief, clip/bracket placement, and assembly sequencing for speed and repeatability.

Run a packaging study to validate bend radius compliance, clearances, and IP-rated connector strategies in thermally and mechanically demanding environments.

Support a pilot build, troubleshoot a vibration abrasion hotspot, and log corrective actions tied to an ECO for swift release.

Design complex harness systems in Zuken E3 and SOLIDWORKS.

Create harness schematics, interconnects, and architecture in Zuken E3.

Produce 2D/3D models, installation drawings, and complete manufacturing documentation.

Define routing paths, branch points, breakout locations, and connector interfaces.

Engineer mechanical retention: clips, brackets, mounts, strain relief, and cable management.

Optimize layouts for manufacturability, serviceability, reliability, and cost.

Integrate harnesses across battery packs, enclosures, sensors, and subsystems.

Conduct packaging studies for clearances, bend radii, and environmental protection.

Assess routing for vibration, abrasion, thermal exposure, and assembly access.

Resolve packaging conflicts in partnership with Mechanical Engineering.

Support sensor integration and electrical component mounting in complex assemblies.

Select connectors, terminals, backshells, cable protection, and sealing solutions.

Design and integrate IP-rated connector systems for demanding environments.

Translate electrical schematics into manufacturable harness designs.

Collaborate with Electrical Engineering to ensure system-level compatibility.
-
Address grounding, shielding, and high-reliability interface needs.

Generate engineering drawings, wiring documentation, BOMs, and manufacturing packages.

Own Zuken E3 harness documentation and release packages.

Support ECOs and configuration management through the product lifecycle.

Author assembly instructions and production documentation.

Safeguard documentation accuracy through development, validation, and release.

Support prototype and pilot builds and drive production launch activities.

Troubleshoot harness issues during assembly, integration, and testing.

Partner with Manufacturing to improve assembly efficiency and quality.

Lead/participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Support design validation and production readiness.

Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

5+ years of wire harness design in a production setting.

Hands-on Zuken E3 experience (schematics, harness design, documentation) is required.

Strong SOLIDWORKS proficiency.

Proven track record releasing production wire harness assemblies.
-
Deep expertise in routing, packaging, and integration.
-
Connector selection and mechanical mounting/retention experience.

Knowledge of IP-rated connectors, sealed interfaces, and environmental protection.

Ability to read/interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

Experience producing manufacturing documentation, drawings, and BOMs.

Solid understanding of DFM/DFA.
