Job Overview:
The School Principal will lead and oversee all operations of the center, ensuring a safe, enriching, and supportive environment for children, staff, and families. As the instructional and operational leader, the Principal will work closely with teachers, staff, and families to uphold the center’s educational goals, meet licensing and accreditation standards, and foster an inclusive community that prioritizes the well being and development of each child.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Management:
- Provide visionary leadership to ensure high standards of academic, social, and emotional development for all children.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the center, ensuring compliance with state and local licensing, accreditation, and health regulations.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to create a safe and engaging learning environment.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to establish long-term goals, strategic plans, and annual budgets
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and supportive work culture among staff.
Instructional Leadership:
- Lead the development and implementation of a high-quality curriculum that aligns with early childhood best practices and developmental standards.
- Observe, mentor, and support teachers in effective instructional strategies to enhance children’s learning experiences.
- Facilitate ongoing professional development and training for staff to ensure continuous improvement and innovation.
- Analyze child outcomes and assessment data to ensure curriculum alignment and identify opportunities for individualized instruction.
Family & Community Engagement:
- Build strong relationships with families, ensuring open and effective communication about their child’s progress, school events, and policies.
- Promote a family-centered environment that encourages parent involvement in the center’s programs and activities.
- Collaborate with local organizations, schools, and agencies to enhance community partnerships and expand support services for children and families.
Operations & Compliance:
- Ensure the center complies with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations, including health and safety protocols, child-staff ratios, and background checks.
- Maintain the center’s accreditation standards and work towards continuous improvement.
- Oversee the recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluation of staff, ensuring high-quality personnel and compliance with staffing requirements.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans and health/safety procedures.
Qualifications:
- Education: Masters degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Educational Leadership. NYS Teacher Certification (Birth through 2 or Equivalent).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in early childhood education, with at least 2 years in a leadership role (such as Director, Assistant Director, or Principal).
- Strong knowledge of child development, early childhood best practices, and state/federal regulations for childcare centers.
- Proven ability to manage and lead diverse teams, build relationships with families, and foster a positive, inclusive school culture.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with various stakeholders.
- Familiarity with curriculum planning, instructional techniques, and data-driven decision-making in an early childhood setting.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Pay: $70,500.00 - $85,000.00 per year
