Job Summary
The Assistant General Manager / Front of House Manager is responsible for leading daily restaurant operations with a focus on exceptional guest experiences, team leadership, and consistent execution of Old Chicago standards. This position works directly with the General Manager to ensure profitability, staff development, and operational excellence.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, maintains composure under pressure, and motivates their team to deliver outstanding hospitality and service.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily Front of House (FOH) operations, including dining room, bar, and host areas.
- Lead and support hourly team members to ensure excellent guest experiences and consistent service standards.
- Assist in scheduling, hiring, onboarding, and ongoing training of team members.
- Monitor labor, food, and beverage costs to meet company targets.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Handle guest feedback and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
- Partner with the General Manager and Back of House leadership to maintain smooth operations and team communication.
- Support company promotions, local marketing efforts, and community engagement.
- Open and close the restaurant, maintaining accountability for cash handling, sales reporting, and daily operations checklists.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented environment focused on growth, accountability, and respect.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of restaurant management or supervisory experience required (casual dining preferred).
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop a team.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent guest service and conflict-resolution skills.
- Knowledge of restaurant operations, including labor management and cost controls.
- Ability to work flexible hours — including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
- ServSafe and/or alcohol service certification preferred.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $38,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
