Job Summary
The Lighthouse Learning Academy, a Christian daycare dedicated to nurturing young minds in a faith-centered environment, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Assistant Director / Teacher to join our early childhood education team.
This unique dual-role position combines classroom teaching responsibilities with leadership and administrative development. As an Assistant Director / Teacher, you will provide high-quality instruction and care for young children while learning and supporting the day-to-day administrative operations of the center. You will play an active role in creating a loving, Christ-centered environment that supports children's spiritual, social, emotional, and academic development.
In the classroom, you will inspire young learners to explore, discover, and grow with confidence while being introduced to foundational Christian values such as kindness, respect, compassion, and gratitude. On the administrative side, you will work closely with the Director to gain hands-on experience in center operations, staff support, licensing compliance, family engagement, and program management.

ResponsibilitiesTeaching Responsibilities
- Design and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans that incorporate early childhood education principles alongside Christian-based teachings.
- Lead classroom activities that promote curiosity, creativity, physical development, and age-appropriate Bible stories, songs, and faith-based learning.
- Create and maintain a safe, respectful, and nurturing classroom environment rooted in Christian values.
- Manage classroom behavior using positive guidance techniques.
- Provide attentive care through daily routines including feeding, diapering, nap time, and outdoor play while maintaining high health and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records of children's developmental milestones, progress, and observations.
- Collaborate with families to communicate student progress, address concerns, and support each child's developmental and spiritual growth.
Assistant Director Responsibilities
- Assist the Director with daily center operations and administrative responsibilities.
- Support staff scheduling, classroom coverage, and maintaining required teacher-to-child ratios.
- Help ensure compliance with state licensing regulations, health and safety requirements, and center policies.
- Assist with staff onboarding, training, mentoring, and professional development initiatives.
- Support enrollment processes, family communications, and recordkeeping.
- Help maintain accurate center documentation, attendance records, and compliance files.
- Serve as a role model and leader by promoting teamwork, professionalism, and a positive center culture.
- Learn and develop skills in leadership, program management, and early childhood administration while supporting the Director in achieving center goals.
Qualifications & Experience
- Prior experience in early childhood education, childcare, or daycare settings is required.
- Previous classroom management experience is preferred.
- Strong understanding of child development and the ability to create engaging, age-appropriate curriculum.
- Interest in leadership and a desire to learn the administrative side of early childhood education.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with children, families, and team members.
- Experience supporting staff, coordinating classroom operations, or taking on leadership responsibilities is preferred.
- Knowledge of childcare licensing regulations and center operations is a plus.
- Experience working with children requiring special education or early intervention services is highly preferred.
- A passion for working with young children and a commitment to supporting a Christian learning environment.
