Outside Parts Salesperson (Heavy Truck-Diesel)
The Diesel Parts Outside Salesman is responsible for building and maintaining customer relationships, driving parts sales, and providing exceptional service to diesel truck and equipment customers. This role involves visiting customers, promoting parts solutions, and supporting the parts department in achieving sales goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and visit potential and existing customers to sell diesel parts and accessories.
- Develop strong customer relationships to ensure repeat business and customer satisfaction.
- Provide technical guidance and product knowledge to customers.
- Track sales activities, leads, and customer interactions in the CRM or sales system.
- Collaborate with the parts department to ensure orders are fulfilled accurately and timely.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify new sales opportunities.
- Participate in trade shows, events, and other promotional activities as needed.
- Meet or exceed individual sales targets and contribute to overall team goals.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in diesel parts sales or heavy truck parts industry preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Must be able to pass a drug screening.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or relevant certifications a plus.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of diesel truck components, parts, and accessories.
- Proven sales and customer service skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated with strong time management and organizational abilities.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to provide technical guidance.
- Basic computer skills for order entry, inventory look-up, and CRM usage.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work Environment
- Primarily field-based, visiting customer locations and job sites.
- Occasional time spent in the warehouse or parts department.
- Fast-paced environment requires attention to detail and responsiveness to customer needs.
- Use of a company vehicle for travel between customer sites.
Physical & Other Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry parts up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent driving, including long distances, as part of daily responsibilities.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while conducting sales or administrative tasks.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
- Flexibility to work outside standard office hours occasionally to meet customer needs or deadlines.
- Ability to navigate and climb trucks, trailers, or load areas safely as needed.
Compensation
- From $65,000 plus commission or incentive plan.
- Company vehicle or mileage reimbursement (if applicable).
