Position Title: Spray Crew Foreman

Position Overview
The Spray Crew Foreman oversees and performs chemical applications for residential and commercial properties, ensuring that all treatments are applied safely, accurately, and according to regulatory standards. This role provides leadership to spray technicians, manages daily routes, monitors property conditions, and communicates with customers and management. The Foreman plays a key role in diagnosing turf and plant issues and maintaining the health and appearance of customer landscapes.
Key Responsibilities
Crew Leadership & Coordination
- Supervise and direct 1–3 spray technicians, ensuring proper workflow and productivity.
- Assign routes, review daily schedules, and ensure the crew understands product labels, safety requirements, and application techniques.
- Train new technicians on chemical mixing, safe handling, PPE use, and proper calibration.
- Encourage teamwork and maintain a positive, professional work environment.
Chemical Application & Turf Care
- Apply fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, and specialty treatments following label instructions and state regulations.
- Oversee and participate in turf and plant health services including preemergent, postemergent, weed control, disease treatments, insect control, and fertilization.
- Ensure accurate mixing rates and application coverage through proper calibration of sprayers and spreaders.
- Maintain accurate application logs, chemical inventories, and compliance documentation.
Property Monitoring & Diagnosis
- Inspect customer properties for turf stress, insects, diseases, irrigation problems, weeds, and soil issues.
- Provide expert recommendations for corrective actions or additional service needs.
- Communicate findings to management and document issues with photos or reports.
Equipment Operation & Maintenance
- Operate and oversee use of all spray equipment including spray rigs, ride-on spreader/sprayer, backpack sprayers, vehicles used in the application of pesticides, truck mounted attenuator (crash truck), and handheld tools.
- Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting and coordinate maintenance when needed.
- Ensure trucks, trailers, and equipment are kept clean, organized, and safe.
Customer Communication & Service
- Serve as the on-site point of contact for customer questions or concerns.
- Explain treatments completed, expected results, and follow-up recommendations professionally and confidently.
- Collaborate with the office or management to ensure customer satisfaction and resolve issues quickly.
Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Enforce all EPA, OSHA, VDACS, and local pesticide regulations.
- Ensure all crew members wear required PPE and follow safe chemical handling procedures.
- Maintain SDS sheets, chemical inventories, and application logs.
- Conduct regular safety briefings and correct unsafe practices immediately.
- Be familiar with current CPR/First Aid Practices
Qualifications
Required
- 2+ years of turf or plant health care experience.
- Strong knowledge of fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, and fungicides.
- Ability to diagnose turf and plant issues accurately.
- Experience operating spray rigs, spreaders, and calibration equipment.
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in all weather.
- Strong communication and crew leadership skills.
- State pesticide applicator certification
Preferred
- Prior supervisory or crew leader experience.
- Knowledge of local turf types, insect pressures, disease cycles, and weed species.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Work Schedule
- Monday–Friday with occasional Saturdays during peak season.
- Shifts begin at 7:00am and end at 3:30pm or when work is completed for the day.
- Overtime must be approved by management

Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk, stand, mix chemicals, and operate equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly (chemical bags, tanks, equipment).
- Ability to work safely in heat, cold, rain, and other outdoor conditions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.50 - $25.00 per hour
