Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and experienced CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) driver to join our dynamic logistics team. In this vital role, you will operate a variety of commercial trucks, including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tanker trucks, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks, to ensure the safe and timely delivery of freight across designated routes. Your expertise in truck driving and cargo handling will help us maintain high standards of safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial trucks with manual transmission across various routes while complying with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques or equipment such as forklifts when necessary, ensuring proper securing of cargo on flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, or tanker trucks.
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems to meet delivery schedules while optimizing fuel consumption and route planning.
- Handle hazardous materials and dangerous goods according to hazardous materials regulations, ensuring compliance with all safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, deliveries, and vehicle inspections in accordance with FMCSA regulations.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to identify maintenance needs or safety issues; report any concerns promptly.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery statuses, route changes, or unforeseen delays to ensure seamless logistics operations.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving and delivery of freight across diverse cargo types.
- Proficiency in operating manual transmission trucks and specialized equipment such as forklifts or dump trucks.
- Knowledge of logistics cargo handling techniques for various freight types including refrigerated goods, flatbed loads, tanker liquids, or hazardous materials.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation tools and route planning software to optimize delivery efficiency.
- Strong understanding of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), DOT (Department of Transportation), and hazardous materials regulations for safe transportation practices.
- Ability to load & unload cargo safely using manual handling skills or mechanical aids; experience with freight involving dangerous goods is a plus.
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record; previous delivery driver experience is highly valued.
