We make magic — literally. King Studios is the creative engine behind Zach King, one of social media’s most-watched storytellers with 105M+ followers worldwide. Our videos don’t just entertain; they make people question reality. We’re looking for an Art Fabricator who thrives at the intersection of craft and chaos.
This is an on-site, project-based contractor role at our new studio in Thousand Oaks, CA.
AT KING STUDIO YOU’LL...
- Plan your week by EOD Monday: scope materials, source what you need, and submit a budget quote to the producer
- Build sets, construct props, and source materials — managing multiple projects with overlapping deadlines
- Stay in close communication with producers throughout the week as VFX decisions evolve and the creative direction shifts
- Be on set during shoots: operate key props or gimmicks when needed, repair anything that breaks, and troubleshoot on your feet
- Coordinate the strike and confirm all sets are fully cleared with the producer
- Log all expenses in Google Sheets and submit to the producer by end of week
THIS ROLE REQUIRES...
- Hands-on experience across multiple art forms — foam, wood, sculpting, paint, fabrication, and beyond (We’re expecting you to have at least some of these skills, but not all are required)
- A problem-solver’s mindset: when you hit a wall, you find a way through it
- Comfort managing multiple projects simultaneously with different due dates
- A collaborative, humble approach — you’re here to make the video great, not to protect your ego
- Basic budgeting chops: you can estimate costs, allocate a given budget, and explain your thinking
- Reliability on set — you understand that the set and/or props you built are your responsibility until the shoot wraps
- A willingness to do whatever the video needs, whether that’s painting a wall, hauling lumber, or engineering a giant water feature
- Specializations in SFX makeup, sculpting, or other niche art forms are a plus — no specific years of experience required
