Nurse Unit Manager LPN Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages the nursing staff, scheduling breaks, reassigning employees from one area to another area as facility needs dictate, writing performance reviews, and enforcing policies with responsibility to issue Coaching and Corrective Action, as needed.
Meets with administration, medical and nursing staff, therapy department, as well as other related departments in planning care.
Develops and maintains care standards.
Makes frequent rounds to note resident/patient conditions and to ensure nursing personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards.
Gives and receives the nursing report upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours.
Ensures assigned work area (i.e. nurse station, med. Cart, medication room, etc.), resident/patient care rooms and treatment areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner.
Assists the Quality Assessment and Assurance Committee in developing and implementing appropriate plans of action to correct identified deficiencies
Performs administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc.
Interprets restorative care policies and procedures to personnel, residents, family members, etc.
Provides direct nursing care as necessary and as department needs may dictate.
Ensures that all restorative care notes are informative and descriptive of the treatment provided and of the resident’s response to the care.
Documents all pertinent data as required by Medicare, Medicaid, company standards and policies.
Completes the required forms upon admission, transfer, and/or discharge.
Informs nursing service personnel of new admissions, their expected time of arrival, room assignment etc.
All other duties, as assigned.
Nurse Unit Manager LPN Skills and Abilities:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Strong interpersonal and team development skills.
Ability to multi-task and remain calm under stress.
Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to organize and prioritize work and delegate to others.
Understands and follows infection control standards, policies and procedures.
Must be able to adapt to a flexible work schedule and occasional overnight travel.
Demonstrate basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications.
Nurse Unit Manager LPN Education and Experience:
Current CPR Certification required.
Possess a current license to practice in the State as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
At least 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
Long-Term care and MDS experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, all with or without the aid of mechanical devices is required.
Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards. Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols required.
