The District Instructional Mentor provides intensive, job-embedded coaching and mentoring to pre-certified educators across USD 480, including interim teachers, resident interims, Grow Here participants, Registered Teacher Apprentices (RTA), and other staff pursuing teacher licensure.
The District Instructional Mentor serves as the district’s primary mentor for pre-certified teachers, helping them strengthen instructional practice, build confidence, and successfully transition to full teacher certification.

Conduct classroom observations and coaching cycles with pre-certified teachers

Provide feedback on instruction, classroom management, and planning

Assist with lesson design and implementation

Offer side-by-side support to teachers needing intensive assistance

Coordinate with Building Instructional Coaches

Communicate regularly with principals and district staff

Participate in recruiting and candidate development

Serve as university supervisor when assigned
