Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Dental Billing Specialist to join our dynamic healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Review dental procedures and diagnoses to assign appropriate CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes accurately for billing purposes
- Prepare and submit insurance claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems efficiently and in compliance with payer requirements
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims promptly, utilizing medical collection strategies to resolve outstanding balances
- Verify patient insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility prior to service delivery to ensure proper reimbursement
- Maintain detailed and organized medical records, including documentation of billing activities and correspondence with insurance companies
- Collaborate with dental office staff to ensure accurate entry of medical terminology and procedure details into billing systems
- Stay current with updates in DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), ICD coding standards, and medical billing regulations to ensure compliance and maximize reimbursements
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical or dental billing with a strong understanding of medical coding principles such as CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG classifications
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems used for medical records management and billing processes
- Knowledge of dental-specific coding practices and terminology is highly preferred
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple claims simultaneously
- Ability to interpret insurance policies, explain billing procedures clearly to patients, and resolve discrepancies efficiently
- Prior experience in medical collection processes and handling denials or appeals effectively
- Excellent communication skills combined with a proactive approach to problem-solving
