Behavioral Health Technician – OCD / ERP Treatment Track

Anxiety Trauma & Depression Treatment Centers (ATD) is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) with experience or training in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to join our specialized OCD treatment track at our West Jordan location.
This position is ideal for someone who understands OCD, anxiety disorders, and ERP and enjoys working directly with clients as they practice exposures, reduce compulsive behaviors, and build confidence functioning outside of treatment.
About the Position
The Behavioral Health Technician will work as part of our multidisciplinary clinical team supporting clients participating in intensive treatment for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and related anxiety disorders.
A significant part of this position involves helping clients implement ERP interventions established by the treating clinician. The BHT may support clients during planned exposures, reinforce response-prevention strategies, help clients resist reassurance seeking and other compulsions, document client responses, and communicate observations to the clinical team.
This is a hands-on clinical support position and an excellent opportunity for someone interested in developing deeper expertise in OCD and evidence-based ERP treatment.
Responsibilities
- Support clients participating in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) interventions under the direction of licensed clinical staff
- Assist clients in completing planned exposure exercises and practicing response prevention
- Help clients identify compulsions, avoidance behaviors, reassurance seeking, and safety behaviors
- Reinforce treatment strategies established by the client's therapist
- Avoid inadvertently providing reassurance or participating in client compulsions
- Encourage clients to tolerate uncertainty and anxiety while completing therapeutic exposures
- Observe and document client participation, distress levels, progress, and response to interventions
- Communicate clinically relevant observations to therapists and other members of the treatment team
- Assist with implementation of individualized ERP hierarchies and treatment assignments as directed by clinicians
- Support clients during individual, group, and real-world/community-based exposure activities when appropriate
- Help maintain a safe, structured, compassionate, and therapeutic treatment environment
- Participate in treatment-team meetings, clinical training, and OCD/ERP education
- Follow ATD policies regarding client safety, confidentiality, HIPAA, professional boundaries, and clinical documentation
- Assist with other program responsibilities as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
We are particularly interested in applicants with previous experience working with OCD and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).
Preferred backgrounds include:
- Previous experience in an OCD specialty program
- Experience assisting with ERP
- Behavioral Health Technician or Mental Health Technician experience
- Experience in an IOP, PHP, residential, inpatient, or outpatient behavioral-health setting
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, behavioral science, social work, or a related field
- Psychology or social-work students pursuing graduate education
- Experience working with anxiety disorders or evidence-based behavioral interventions
- Familiarity with CBT and ERP principles

Successful candidates will be comfortable helping clients approach anxiety rather than helping them avoid it.
Because reassurance seeking and avoidance can be part of the OCD cycle, this position requires someone who can be compassionate and supportive while maintaining appropriate therapeutic boundaries and following the client's ERP treatment plan.

- Calm and confident around clients experiencing significant anxiety
- Comfortable coaching clients through distress without immediately attempting to eliminate the anxiety
- Able to follow detailed clinical treatment plans
- Compassionate without reinforcing compulsive behavior
- Dependable and professional
- Comfortable receiving supervision and feedback
- Interested in becoming highly skilled in OCD treatment
- Able to work collaboratively with therapists, prescribers, and other members of the treatment team
