Job Summary
Trades Exchange is hiring an experienced Commercial Plumbing Service Technician 3 for a full-time opportunity in Nashville, TN
This is an advanced service position for a skilled commercial plumber who can independently diagnose, repair, and replace complete plumbing systems and equipment. Work may range from faucets, fixtures, drain stoppages, and conventional or tankless water heaters to boilers, pumps, lift stations, backflow devices, live-line freezing, hot taps, and underground drain-line diagnostics.
Technicians work inside and outside customer facilities and communicate directly with customers throughout the service process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot commercial plumbing problems
- Respond promptly to dispatched service calls
- Repair and replace commercial plumbing fixtures and equipment
- Service conventional and tankless water heaters
- Diagnose, service, and repair boilers
- Diagnose and repair booster pumps, lift stations, and recirculation systems
- Maintain and repair backflow prevention devices
- Clear drain stoppages using cable machines and hydro-jetting equipment
- Operate drain cameras and locate underground plumbing lines
- Freeze live water lines when required
- Perform hot taps on energized piping and equipment when qualified
- Install and repair plumbing pipe and fittings, including:
- Steel pipe
- Ductile iron
- Copper
- PEX
- PVC
- Read and interpret blueprints and plumbing symbols
- Apply knowledge of drainage, waste, venting, and complete plumbing systems
- Follow local plumbing codes
- Perform hand digging when required
- Use company technology to document service work
- Maintain a clean, neat, and organized company vehicle
- Provide professional customer service
- Communicate repair needs and service options clearly
- Meet established sales-lead, revenue, and warranty expectations
- Work cooperatively with customers, technicians, and other trades
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of commercial plumbing experience
- A combination of new plumbing installation and service experience is required
- Complete knowledge of commercial plumbing systems
- Strong independent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Experience servicing water heaters, boilers, pumps, drains, fixtures, and piping systems
- Ability to read blueprints and understand local plumbing codes
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Strong communication and customer-service skills
- Ability to work independently and manage changing service demands
Preferred Certifications and Credentials
- Plumbing license preferred
- Backflow certification preferred
- PVC/HDPE fusion pipe-welding certification preferred
- Experience freezing live water lines
- Experience performing hot taps on energized piping or equipment
Advanced Skills Preferred
Candidates should have experience with:
- Commercial plumbing service and repair

Physical and Working Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
- Ability to perform hand digging and strenuous physical labor
- Ability to stand, climb, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach overhead
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors
- Comfortable working in hot, cold, wet, noisy, cramped, or poorly lit areas
- Comfortable working around chemicals, contaminants, equipment, and potentially hazardous conditions
- Ability to follow applicable Safety Data Sheet requirements
- May be required to drive or ride in a vehicle for two or more hours
