Site Director
Indie Learning Co. | Phoenix Metro Area | Full-Time, Exempt
About Us
Indie Learning Co. is a therapeutic and educational community built for neurodivergent and disabled learners and the families who love them. We believe that environments shape outcomes just as much as instruction does, and we are looking for a Site Director who understands that a well-run center is not a backdrop to great work, it is part of the work.
The Role
The Site Director is the individual leader of their site: the person responsible for what it feels like to walk through the door every day, for learners, for families, and for the team. This is a leadership role built on educational judgment, not just operations. You will own the culture, the physical environment, the family experience, and the daily rhythm of the site, working alongside our Director of Learner Experience and Director of Interdisciplinary Services, who lead the instructional and therapeutic teams.
We are specifically looking for someone who brings real educational leadership experience to this role. This is a center full of learners, families, and educators, and the person who leads it needs to understand instruction, child development, and what it takes to build a strong educational culture, not just run a facility.
What You'll Own
- The site's culture and values in daily practice, ensuring the environment reflects genuine neurodiversity-affirming, inclusive care
- The family experience from enrollment through ongoing engagement, including communications, community events, and site rituals
- Site-level policies, safety systems, and emergency preparedness
- Day-to-day operational oversight, scheduling, and vendor relationships
- Supervision of administrative and custodial staff, including hiring, coaching, and accountability
- Strategic site development, working closely with the COO on goals, growth, and space planning
What We're Looking For
Required
- Bachelor's degree in education, educational leadership, early childhood education, or a closely related field; advanced degree strongly preferred
- Demonstrated educational leadership experience, ideally as a center director, school administrator, program director, or similar role responsible for instructional or educational quality
- 4+ years of progressive experience in site or program leadership within an educational, therapeutic, or early childhood setting
- Experience supervising staff and holding people accountable to real standards, not just checklists
- Working knowledge of neurodiversity-affirming practice, the Social Model of Disability, and trauma-informed care
- Comfortable holding both the big picture and the small details of a busy, child-centered environment
- Must obtain and maintain an Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Must complete Mandated Reporter Training and hold current CPR/First Aid certification
- Must complete E-Verify employment authorization as required under Arizona law
Preferred
- Experience leading in a school-based, center-based, or therapeutic environment serving neurodivergent or disabled children
- Background partnering with clinical or therapeutic teams
- Experience designing family engagement systems or community programming
- Lived experience with disability or neurodivergence, personally or through family
