Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Plant Engineer to lead the technical operations within our manufacturing facility. This role is vital in ensuring optimal plant performance, maintaining industrial equipment, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in mechanical and process engineering, with hands-on experience in manufacturing environments, particularly in plastics injection molding, compression molding and automation systems. As a Plant Engineer, you will drive innovation, troubleshoot complex issues, and collaborate across teams to enhance productivity and safety standards.
Duties
- Develop and manage project schedules for equipment upgrades, process improvements, and facility expansions to ensure timely completion.
- Conduct root cause analysis on machinery failures or production disruptions to identify underlying issues and implement effective solutions.
- Design and review schematics, CAD drawings (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo), and industrial equipment layouts to support manufacturing processes.
- Program and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs), CNC machines, robotics, and vision inspection systems to optimize automation workflows.
- Oversee fabrication, tooling, welding, and assembly line processes to maintain high-quality standards in manufacturing operations.
- Lead process engineering initiatives focused on lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop factory layouts, schematic diagrams, and mechanical designs aligned with ISO 9001 standards.
- Implement continuous improvement strategies by analyzing production data and applying industrial engineering techniques to enhance overall plant performance.
Experience
- Proven experience working within a manufacturing facility or industrial engineering environment with a focus on process optimization.
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with hands-on experience in plastics injection molding, fabrication, tooling, welding, and assembly line operations.
- Demonstrated expertise in project scheduling, root cause analysis, CAD design (AutoCAD, SolidWorks), CAM programming, CNC programming, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and schematics development.
- Familiarity with robotics programming, vision inspection systems, industrial equipment maintenance, and factory automation technologies.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies applied within a manufacturing setting.
- Experience working with ISO 9001 quality management systems is preferred.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics accurately while applying industrial engineering best practices.
- Strong mechanical engineering background complemented by skills in industrial equipment troubleshooting and factory process optimization.
