We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Wound Care Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in wound management, patient assessment, and advanced nursing practices within diverse clinical settings. As a Wound Care Nurse, you will be responsible for providing specialized wound care, developing treatment plans, and educating patients and staff to promote optimal healing outcomes. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of wounds, including measurement, documentation, and evaluation of healing progress.
- Develop individualized wound care plans based on current best practices and patient-specific needs.
- Administer appropriate treatments such as dressings, debridement, and infection control measures while adhering to safety protocols.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including physicians, physical therapists, and nutritionists—to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Educate patients and their families on wound care techniques, infection prevention, and lifestyle modifications to support healing.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation within Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Monitor vital signs and assess physiological responses related to wound healing and overall patient health.
- Ensure adherence to nursing policies, State Board of Nursing regulations, and healthcare standards across all care activities.
Requirements
- Valid RN License
- Extensive experience in wound care management within hospital or outpatient settings.
- Proven expertise in handling complex wounds such as diabetic ulcers, surgical wounds, or trauma-related injuries.
- Knowledge of advanced wound dressing techniques, infection control protocols, and debridement procedures.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems for accurate medical documentation and record keeping.
- Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to wound healing processes.
- Demonstrated ability to perform IV insertions, venipuncture, and medication administration safely.
- Experience working in Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly desirable; additional experience in emergency medicine or acute care settings is advantageous.
- Excellent patient assessment skills combined with the ability to educate patients on self-care practices effectively.
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards and nursing policy adherence across clinical environments.
