JOB SUMMARY:
Legal professional equipped with the knowledge and expertise to carry out procedures on legal issues, under the supervision of an attorney whom they assist in the course of their job. The paralegal’s job is to perform substantive and procedural routine duties of paralegal work with the knowledge of legal concepts to make the work of attorneys easier and simplified. A key responsibility of the paralegal is to assist by drafting responses/answers to discovery, pleadings, and conduct research of legal matters involving issues of personal injury. Documents for these cases are properly sorted out, evaluated and filed by him/her based on the instruction of the attorney.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist attorneys in preparing documents for legal matters such as amendments, partnerships, briefs, withdrawals, complaints, pretrial orders, discovery, etc.
- Assist attorneys in carrying out preparations for trials, hearings, etc. by embarking on legal research
- Filing legal documents
- Professional communication with clients
- Perform administrative duties which involves answering clients calls, maintaining file expenses, filing papers, settlement disbursals, maintaining and organizing clients’ files and legal documents
- Schedule appointments for attorneys with clients and witnesses
- Attend trials, hearings and other legal functions with the attorney
- Perform legal, records and factual research
- Identify relevant judicial decisions, statutes, legal articles, codes and other pertinent material
- Organize, analyze, and validate information
- Prepare written reports
- Check and edit legal forms and documents for accuracy
