American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position in Asheville, NC, requiring neuro and trauma care experience along with ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Work on the K7 Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a hospital, covering Trauma Care Stepdown and Pulmonary departments
-
44-bed unit with a staffing grid of 2 Charge Nurses, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, and 1 HUC per shift
-
Patient ratio is 4:1 at grid, stretching to 5:1
-
Day shift: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
-
Every other weekend required
-
Float to stepdown and med-surg units as needed

EMR: Cerner
-
Equipment includes IV pumps, Skylift, PCA pumps, chest tubes, trachs, and patient lifts
-
Active NC or Compact RN license required

Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS (AHA or ARC accepted; no certifications expiring within the first 30 days of assignment)

Minimum 2 years of recent PCU or related clinical experience

Neuro and trauma care experience required

Cerner experience strongly preferred given unit usage

US SSN and DOB required for consideration

One professional reference required

Perform neuro and spinal checks, C-collar placement, TLSO brace application, chest tube management, PCA pump management, IV infusions, lumbar drain care, feeding tube placement, and blood transfusions

No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
