This position initially starts as an hourly General Manager In Training (GMIT) . Successful completion of all training and a final evaluation is required before consideration for permanent placement as a cafe General Manager (paid salary).
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to oversee the daily operations of our cafe. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive food service management experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. This role involves managing staff, ensuring food quality and safety standards, controlling inventory, and maintaining overall operational excellence in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Duties
- Lead and supervise all cafe operations, including food preparation, kitchen management, and customer service.
- Oversee staff training, development, and performance evaluations to ensure high standards of service and efficiency.
- Manage inventory control, ordering supplies, and maintaining optimal par levels.
- Handle cash management duties including cash handling, balancing registers, and financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and sanitation standards to uphold health codes.
- Coordinate shift management to ensure smooth service during peak hours and catering.
- Implement policies for quality assurance, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
- Assist in budgeting, cost control, and strategic planning to support business growth.
- Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork and professional development among staff.
- Engage with customers to address concerns and enhance their cafe experience.
Skills
- Proven management experience in food service environments such as quick service & fast food restaurants.
- Expertise with POS systems; cash handling skills required.
- Experience supervising staff, conducting interviews, training & development programs.
- Excellent customer service skills with a focus on hospitality management.
- Ability to manage inventory control, food safety standards, and food handling procedures.
- Leadership qualities with experience in team management, shift management, and restaurant operations.
- Familiarity with budgeting and food preparation processes; catering knowledge and experience is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
