Overview
The Commercial Turf & Plant Health Care Specialist is responsible for implementing Horizon Land Group's agronomic programs on commercial properties throughout South Carolina and Georgia. This position performs fertilizer, herbicide, insecticide, fungicide, and plant growth regulator applications while monitoring overall turf and landscape health. The specialist serves as the field expert for identifying pest, disease, irrigation, and nutrient issues and works closely with Operations and Account Managers to ensure exceptional property conditions.
- Apply fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, and plant growth regulators according to Horizon Land Group specifications.
- Operate ride-on and walk-behind spray equipment, spreaders, and application equipment safely and efficiently.
- Calibrate all application equipment to ensure accurate rates and proper coverage.
- Mix chemicals according to label requirements and company safety procedures.
- Maintain complete application records required by state and federal regulations.
- Follow all EPA, OSHA, state pesticide licensing, and company safety standards.
- Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Maintain required pesticide applicator licenses and certifications.
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during all applications.
- Follow all pesticide label instructions and environmental regulations.
- Properly transport, store, and dispose of chemicals and containers.
- Participate in ongoing safety and technical training.
- Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred
- 2+ years of commercial landscape or golf course experience.
- Experience with commercial spray equipment.
- Knowledge of warm-season turfgrasses, including Bermuda and Zoysia.
- Familiarity with irrigation systems and water management.
- Ability to identify common turf diseases and insects.
- Experience using GPS or digital field reporting software.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- South Carolina or Georgia Commercial Pesticide Applicator License (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
- Knowledge of turfgrass, weeds, insects, and ornamental plant care.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
