Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Carpenter with at least 15 years experience to join our close-knit team who take pride in their work and genuinely enjoy their job. This role will oversee various construction and restoration projects across Rhode Island, primarily in the south of the state, as well as southeastern Connecticut (New London County). The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in carpentry, construction, and restoration, with the ability to lead and mentor a team effectively. This role requires a hands-on approach, excellent problem-solving and communication skills, and the ability to read blueprints and schematics. The Lead Carpenter will ensure that projects are completed on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.
Duties
- Execute a full range of renovation tasks including trim carpentry, frame carpentry, cabinet installation, fixture installation, tile installation, drywall installation, plastering, painting, etc.
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of apprentice and journeyman carpenter teams
- Coordinate and communicate with clients, designers, engineers, permit inspectors, and subcontractors
- Evaluate sites for water and structural damage to report on obstacles for project completion
- Perform construction estimating for project planning and budgeting
- Utilize hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently
- Read blueprints and schematics to guide project execution
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations on the construction site
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
Skills
- Excellent communication skills for effective team leadership and client relations
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficient in construction estimating techniques
- Strong background in trim carpentry, frame carpentry, cabinetry, and other renovation trade tasks
- Experience with heavy lifting and physical labor associated with construction tasks
- Familiarity with various hand tools, power tools, CNC machinery, and assembly processes
- Knowledge of restoration industry practices including water damage restoration
- Ability to perform and advise on a range of renovation tasks including flooring installation, tile laying, caulking, siding installation, drywall floating, metal stud framing, construction painting, and fabrication tasks
- Familiarity with plumbing, electrical, and HVAC processes for working with subcontractors
