Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians with examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms and surgical areas
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
- Perform laboratory tests and analyze results
- Take x-rays
- Clean and sterilize equipment and instruments
- Provide post-operative care to animals
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and nutrition
- Maintain accurate records of patient information
Skills:
- Proficient in aseptic technique for maintaining a sterile environment
- Knowledge of animal physiology and anatomy
- Strong pet care skills, including feeding, grooming, and administering medications
- Ability to handle animals safely and with compassion
- Familiarity with animal catheterization procedures
- Understanding of veterinary terminology and medical procedures
- Skill in animal restraint techniques
Previous experience as a veterinary assistant is preferred
