INTERIM ACCOUNTING MANAGER

OVERVIEW:
Our client is a growth-oriented organization with a complex finance and accounting environment, including multi-entity activity, management reporting needs, investor and debt-related reporting requirements, and ongoing process improvement initiatives. The business is seeking experienced interim accounting support to strengthen reporting, improve visibility, and support accounting leadership during a period of increased activity.
They are seeking an Interim Accounting Manager for a consulting assignment to support close activities, financial reporting, cash flow analysis, audit readiness, intercompany accounting, lease accounting, and integration-related accounting workstreams. This role is well suited for a hands-on accounting professional who can quickly assess priorities, work independently, and support multiple detailed accounting projects with limited ramp-up time.
The ideal consultant brings strong accounting fundamentals, technical depth, cash flow experience, intercompany expertise, financial reporting capability, and the ability to improve processes in a fast-moving environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support monthly close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, variance review, and close-related reporting deliverables.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, account analyses, supporting schedules, and financial reporting packages.
- Support cash flow reporting and analysis, including cash forecasting inputs, working capital visibility, liquidity-related schedules, and variance explanations.
- Assist with management reporting, investor reporting, debt reporting, and other stakeholder-facing financial reporting needs.
- Support audit readiness activities, including PBC schedules, reconciliation support, documentation requests, variance explanations, and auditor follow-up.
- Manage intercompany accounting activity, including reconciliations, settlements, eliminations support, balance review, and related documentation.
- Support integration-related accounting activities, including opening balance review, reporting alignment, process harmonization, and post-close clean-up.
- Assist with lease accounting under ASC 842, including lease schedules, journal entries, supporting documentation, and reporting requirements.
- Partner with Accounting, Finance, Treasury, Legal, and other business stakeholders to resolve accounting questions and support reporting needs.
- Identify process gaps and help improve close efficiency, reporting accuracy, reconciliation quality, documentation standards, and accounting workflows.
- Develop or refine templates, schedules, reporting files, and repeatable processes to improve continuity and handoff.
- Use available systems, data, and technology tools to organize information, investigate issues, and improve accounting execution.
- Bring curiosity around AI and automation, including the ability to test tools, ask effective questions, and identify practical ways to improve accounting processes, documentation, or reporting.
- Operate independently as a quick learner and self-directed consultant while keeping leadership informed on priorities, risks, and progress.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- 6+ years of progressive accounting, audit, financial reporting, or controllership experience.
- Prior experience at the Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant, Assistant Controller, or equivalent level preferred.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, monthly close, reconciliations, accruals, financial reporting, and audit support.
- Cash flow reporting, cash forecasting, working capital, or liquidity analysis experience required.
- Experience supporting integration-related accounting workstreams, opening balance review, post-close reporting, or process alignment required.
- Experience with ASC 842 lease accounting required.
- Intercompany accounting experience required, including reconciliations, settlements, eliminations support, and balance review.
- Experience preparing or supporting management reporting, investor reporting, debt reporting, or lender-related financial reporting required.
- Audit readiness experience required, including preparing audit support, responding to auditor requests, and maintaining well-organized documentation.
- Experience in a growth-oriented, multi-entity, recurring revenue, technology-enabled, or similarly complex business environment preferred.
- Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP, reporting, or accounting systems.
- AI curiosity and willingness to use technology to improve accounting processes, reporting workflows, research, documentation, and recurring deliverables.
- Quick learner with the ability to operate independently, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple workstreams in an interim consulting environment.
- Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
Pay: $75.00 - $90.00 per hour
