Isaly’s is bringing a Pittsburgh legend back to life! Known for our iconic restaurants serving chipped-chopped ham, deli classics, and high-quality ice cream, we are reopening in the heart of Pittsburgh’s historic Strip District.
We are crafting our own super-premium ice cream on-site and bringing back the famous hand-dipped Isaly's bars that started right here in the region. We’re looking for a passionate, energetic, and detail-oriented Ice Cream & Retail Team Leader to lead our front-of-house team, craft amazing guest experiences, and help honor a piece of Pittsburgh history.
Position Overview
As the Ice Cream & Retail Team Leader, you will be the heart and soul of our retail and ice cream counter operations. You’ll oversee daily counter service, lead and mentor retail team members, manage inventory, and ensure every guest receives exceptional, friendly service with a healthy dash of nostalgia.

Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Mentorship:
- Lead by example on the floor, coaching team members on excellent hospitality, scooping techniques, and product knowledge.
- Assist with training, scheduling, and onboarding new retail and counter staff.
- Maintain a positive, welcoming, and upbeat team environment.
- Guest Experience & Retail Operations:
- Ensure memorable, high-touch customer service for every guest visiting the counter.
- Oversee the assembly and dipping of our signature hand-dipped Isaly's bars, sundaes, shakes, and scoops with precision and quality control.
- Maintain a pristine, visually appealing ice cream display, retail shelf setup, and dining area.
- Inventory & Product Management:
- Monitor ice cream stock, retail items, and packaging supplies; assist with ordering and restocking.
- Enforce strict health, safety, and sanitation standards across all food handling and retail spaces.
- Manage cash registers, POS systems, and daily opening/closing routines accurately.
- Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 1–2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience in a restaurant, café, retail, or ice cream shop setting.
- Passion: A genuine love for customer service, local food history, and exceptional ice cream!
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate a team and connect with guests.
- Adaptability: Thrives in high-volume, dynamic environments (especially during busy Strip District weekends).
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, scoop firm ice cream continuously, and lift up to 35–40 lbs.
- Certifications: ServSafe certification is a plus (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
