Job Summary
The Correctional Officer plays a critical role in maintaining safety and security within correctional facilities. This position involves overseeing the daily activities of inmates, ensuring compliance with facility rules and regulations, and fostering a safe environment for both staff and inmates. The ideal candidate will possess strong conflict management skills, be able to operate CCTV systems, and have a solid understanding of law enforcement practices.
Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate behavior and enforce facility rules to maintain order.
- Conduct regular inspections of the facility, including cells and common areas.
- Utilize CCTV systems to observe inmate activities and ensure safety protocols are followed.
- Respond to emergencies and incidents, applying CPR and first aid as necessary.
- Prepare detailed reports on incidents, inmate behavior, and daily activities.
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies when necessary to ensure security protocols are upheld.
- Manage conflicts among inmates effectively to prevent escalation.
- Participate in ongoing training to maintain certification and enhance skills relevant to the role.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in criminal justice is preferred.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required (can be certified after employment through the facility); additional certifications in conflict management or law enforcement are advantageous.
- Experience in a militarized environment or previous law enforcement experience is preferred but not required.
- Strong report writing skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick decisions in emergency situations.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must pass background checks as required by the facility.
- Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds.
- Must be able to pass a physical.
- Must be able to pass a Mental Evaluation.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
