The Designer Engineer uses all resources available to provide Strato’s customers with safe, durable, and reliable products at the lowest possible cost.
Reporting Relationship: Reports directly to the Manager of Engineering.
Major Responsibilities
- Ensure projects make progress and are completed in a timely manner relative to its complexity, scope, and involvement.
- Evaluate new designs based on cost and performance and redesign to develop cost-effective efficient and reliable products.
- Provide marketing and sales with technical media and information to assist them in accomplishing their functions.
- Train sales, marketing, customer service, etc., on new products as well as reinforcement training for existing products.
- Assist Quality Assurance and Production Departments as needed.
- Follow and conform to procedures and guidelines as determined by Strato’s design and document control process.
- Prepare or direct preparation of product or system layout and detailed drawings.
- Direct and coordinate manufacturing or building of prototype products or systems.
- Develop experimental test programs and evaluate results to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications per AAR standards.
- Provide training or training tools to customers to ensure proper, safe usage of new.

· Improve existing mechanicals systems.
· Design and test mechanical and electronic systems.
· Develop various automated systems.
· Design, develop and enhance electro-mechanical systems and mechatronic devices.
· Create automated systems and software that will help in controlling mechatronic devices.
· Other tasks as assigned by upper management.
Specific Duties
Ensure projects progress and are completed in a timely manner relative to their complexity, scope, and involvement.
- Based on availability of supporting resources (CAD designer, New Product Development Lab (NPD), etc.), projects should progress at a rate relative to the complexity of the project
- The design engineer should be able to multitask on multiple projects while placing emphasis on projects with higher priority.
- Direct and coordinate manufacturing or building of prototype products or systems.
- Work with NPD or outside facilities to quickly create accurate, inexpensive prototypes for field testing.
- Ensure proper validation is obtained and properly documented.
- Work with NPD department or outside facilities to test products at limits beyond normal operating conditions.
- Always design experiments that will guarantee long-lasting, safe, reliable parts for the customer.

Qualifications
· B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering.
· Minimum of 3 years of designing engineering experience.
· Strong knowledge of structural components, welding, and materials.
· Experience designing and building mechanical equipment, fixturing, and tooling in CAD (SolidWorks preferred).
· Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Automation, and Capital Projects a plus.
· Project management, codes & standards.
· Mechanical - Rotating & Static Equipment.
· Must be able to manage workload for multiple projects at once.
· Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.
· Must have a proven history of working independently with minimal direct supervision.
· Demonstrated team player and team leader qualities.
· Highly motivated individual that has a strong drive for results.
