Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers on over-the-road routes, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Navigate using GPS systems and plan efficient routes for timely deliveries across multiple states or regions.
- Load and unload freight with proper manual handling techniques, ensuring cargo integrity and safety during transport.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers to identify maintenance needs or safety issues.
- Manage documentation such as delivery logs, bills of lading, inspection reports, and compliance paperwork accurately.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any route or cargo issues promptly.
Requirements
- Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, especially in route driving or freight delivery.
- Ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently and handle truck loading/unloading procedures efficiently.
- Knowledge of GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time tracking.
- Strong understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, hazard materials regulations, and safety protocols.
- Excellent manual handling skills for load & unload tasks; physical ability to lift heavy cargo when necessary.
