The 2027 Summer Internship - Geothermal Resources Team is an exciting opportunity to learn about subsurface resource exploration and management in the geothermal industry.
The successful candidate will be assigned a project related to their discipline of interest and mentored by members of the Cyrq Energy Geothermal Resources team. Potential projects include geologic framework mapping for exploration and/or reservoir management, geochemical characterization of reservoirs and aquifers, well-field production/injection optimization, and geoscience data management.
Our full-time, paid 2027 Summer Internship program runs for 13 weeks, from mid-May to mid-August 2027 (adjustments for school start/end are available). This position will be based on-site at our Reno Corporate office and may include travel to existing geothermal facilities.
Responsibilities:
Interns will be provided with basic project scopes and goals based on their field of study. Successful interns will:

Synthesize independent study and mentorship into a working knowledge of geothermal systems.

Generate a project roadmap and execute it over a 13-week period.

Provide a final report and recommendations based on the outcome of the project.

Active undergraduate or graduate student in Geology, Geophysics, Geochemistry, Reservoir Engineering, or other related field.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record.

Ability to complete domestic travel to field and office locations., up to 5%.

Excellent interpersonal and verbal skills and ability to indirectly motivate others to a common goal.

Ability to read, write and speak English sufficiently to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences including technicians, engineers, stakeholders, vendors, and partners.

Ability to work in remote field locations, outside, and in difficult weather

When on plant locations:

Ability to stand, twist, stoop/bend, squat, kneel, crawl, reach, push, pull, and climb stairs or ladders regularly.

- Ability to tolerate remote environments, indoor /outdoor work, wildlife, possible dust, dirt, and wind, including any weather typical for all seasons in southern CA, NV, and UT.

Ability to don all forms of required Personal Protective Equipment and work at heights of up to 50’.

Position Type: Non-Exempt
Hourly Range: $30.50 - $33.25
This range is based on market pay structures. Individual compensation is determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications, such as demonstrated skill level, education, and experience.
