Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Staff Accountant / Bookkeeper to join our dynamic finance team. Duties
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions using accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, and other financial systems.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, and perform bank reconciliations to ensure precise cash flow management.
- Prepare journal entries, perform balance sheet reconciliations, and analyze accounts for discrepancies or irregularities.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and relevant accounting standards across all financial activities.
- Assist in budgeting processes, general ledger accounting, and double entry bookkeeping to support organizational financial planning.
- Conduct account analysis, account reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation to maintain accurate financial data.
- Support tax preparation activities by maintaining proper documentation and assisting with tax experience requirements.
- Utilize spreadsheets extensively for data analysis, reporting, and tracking financial information efficiently.
- Collaborate with external auditors during audits and ensure all documentation meets regulatory requirements for governmental or non-profit accounting.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Staff Accountant / Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role within corporate or non-profit organizations.
- Extensive knowledge of accounting software such as QuickBooks (including QuickBooks Online), Xero, Sage, and other financial software platforms.
- Strong understanding of accounting concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and double entry bookkeeping.
- Familiarity with governmental accounting standards (GAAP) and experience working within public accounting environments is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to handle accounts payable/receivable processes and account analysis with accuracy and efficiency.
- Experience in preparing financial reports, balance sheet reconciliation, general ledger accounting, and budget management is essential.
- Excellent skills in spreadsheets (Excel or similar), 10-key typing proficiency, and technical accounting practices are required to succeed in this role.
- Prior bookkeeping experience in a fast-paced environment that requires attention to detail while managing multiple tasks effectively.
