Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Day Shift Charge Nurse RN to lead and coordinate patient care within a fast-paced healthcare environment. Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate nursing staff during the day shift, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality patient care
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, and physiological evaluations to inform treatment plans
- Oversee medication administration, IV infusions, catheter care, tube feeding, and wound suturing in accordance with hospital policies and safety standards
- Ensure accurate medical documentation using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Cerner or Epic, maintaining compliance with HIPAA and healthcare regulations
- Lead discharge planning, family communication, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams including case management and therapy services
- Manage clinical operations including intake assessments, utilization review, and adherence to long-term care regulations
- Provide training, mentorship, and supervision to nursing staff while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
Skills
- Extensive critical care experience with proficiency in ICU or Level I Trauma Center settings; experience working with trauma patients preferred
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10 coding, ICD-9 coding, and diagnostic evaluation techniques
- Skilled in using EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Athenahealth for accurate medical records management
- Demonstrated leadership in nurse management with supervising experience in hospital or long-term care environments
- Expertise in patient assessment techniques including vital signs monitoring, physical examinations, venipuncture, IV insertion, catheterization, and sterile technique
- Familiarity with hospital medicine practices such as ventilator management, airway management including intubation procedures, and use of medical imaging tools
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards along with state healthcare regulations governing nursing practice and long-term care facilities
- Ability to handle complex cases involving dementia care, behavioral health issues, geriatrics, pediatric patients including neonatal ventilator management or Toddler care
- Excellent communication skills for managerial coordination among interdisciplinary teams; experience managing care facility teams is a plus
- Proficiency in managing medical documentation for DRGs (Diagnosis Related Groups), discharge summaries, and case management reports
- Competence in infection control practices including aseptic technique and specimen collection/processing
