Position Overview
Mecca Talent is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer with strong AutoCAD and SolidWorks experience to support a growing precision manufacturing operation in Mount Joy, PA.
This position is responsible for creating, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs for laser, plasma, and waterjet cutting equipment while supporting efficient production, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience working from both 2D drawings and 3D models, understand machining principles, and possess strong troubleshooting skills.
Essential Responsibilities
- Create and optimize CNC programs for laser cutting, plasma cutting, and waterjet cutting systems using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Develop programs for a wide variety of materials and complex part geometries.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, CAD files, and technical documentation.
- Utilize 2D drawings and 3D models to generate accurate CNC programs.
- Select appropriate tooling, cutting parameters, speeds, and feeds based on material type and production requirements.
- Set up, test, and prove out CNC programs on the production floor, making adjustments as necessary to improve efficiency and quality.
- Collaborate with machinists, production personnel, and engineering teams to improve machining processes and reduce cycle times.
- Troubleshoot programming, tooling, machine, and production issues.
- Maintain organized program files, revision histories, and technical documentation.
- Verify that completed parts meet engineering specifications, dimensional tolerances, and quality standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and manufacturing efficiency.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all company safety policies.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of CNC programming experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and 3D modeling software.
- Experience programming laser, plasma, waterjet, or similar CNC cutting equipment preferred.
- Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling selection, cutting parameters, and material properties.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Experience using precision measuring instruments to verify part quality.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with production teams.
- High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality products.
