Overview
We are seeking an energetic and passionate Dance Teacher/Instructor to inspire students of all ages through the art of dance and creative movement. Duties
- Develop comprehensive dance curricula tailored to various age groups and skill levels, incorporating elements of ballet, contemporary, jazz, gymnastics/ acro, or other dance styles.
- Lead engaging dance classes that promote technical skills, creativity, and enjoyment while maintaining a positive classroom atmosphere
- Manage classroom behavior effectively through clear expectations and supportive guidance to ensure a safe and respectful learning environment.
- Choreograph routines for performances, recitals, or showcases that highlight students’ progress and boost their confidence.
- Incorporate musical instruments or rhythm exercises to enhance students’ musicality and coordination during dance instruction.
- Adapt lesson plans for students with special needs or those requiring additional support, ensuring inclusive participation.
- Collaborate with other arts educators on interdisciplinary projects such as theater productions or visual arts integration to enrich the overall learning experience.
Experience
- Proven experience teaching dance or performing arts to diverse age groups, including children, youth programs, or adult learners
- Strong background in choreography and dance instruction across multiple styles such as ballet, jazz, contemporary, or cultural dances
- Experience working with children or in early childhood education settings with a focus on childhood development and behavior management
- Familiarity with curriculum development, lesson planning, classroom management techniques, and special education accommodations
- Knowledge of theater production processes and experience integrating arts disciplines like music or visual arts into dance programs is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to foster creativity while maintaining discipline within a classroom setting
- Prior experience in teaching instrumental performance or musical instruments can be beneficial for rhythm-based activities
