JOB SUMMARY:
Sign Structure Leadman reports to the Sign Structure Production Supervisor. SS Leadman is responsible for directing and supervising the work assuring that workers are provided with sufficient instruction to assemble structures with bolts using the correct procedure as well as all duties and tasks involving the Ficep/Anglematic.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Supervises and trains all aspects of Sign Structure personnel.
- Meet established deadlines.
- Assemble structures with bolts using the correct procedure.
- Removes small quantities of debris and or galv. build up with hand files, scrapers, or light sanding on product.
- Report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
- Operate the crane to move material.
- Operate grinders and other power tools to prep material for welding.
- Touch up galvanizing defects and sharp edges.
- Ensure full kits according to the BOL are sent to the shipping and receiving department on established dates.
- Inspects Kits going to and receiving from the galvanizer for accurate quantities, damages, or defects; records discrepancies or damages and notifies supervisor and/or purchasing personnel of such discrepancies.
- Ensure employees know how and are clocking into the correct labor codes/jobs.
- Maintains effective daily communication with Detail/Weld out leadman and/or Shipping and Receiving Coordinator on the status of parts for Sign Structure jobs.
- Communicates directly with other department leads on parts requiring welding for assembly.
- Inform QC personnel for product inspections.
- Ensures the Anglematic operators are cutting material accordingly to the schedule.
- Reports any machine malfunctions to supervision and maintenance.
- Ensures all Trusses leaving the building/craneway are ship ready.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED; at least one year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Ability to read and write Bi-Lingual Spanish is a plus but not required.
- Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
- Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel.
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and control standards.
- Ability to sort, check, count, and verify numbers.
- Ability to receive, track, and distribute materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Ability to perform simple arithmetic.
- Ability to receive, stock, and/or deliver goods.
- Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects up to 75 lbs.
- Knowledge of postal or commercial shipping methods and procedures
- Basic blueprint understanding
- Basic computer skills
- Use tape measure
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Successful candidate must submit to post offer, pre-employment physical examination/medical history check.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
- Work involves moderate to heavy exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
- Moderate to heavy physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 75 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (6) hours per day.
- Work environment involves exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require strict understanding and adherence to safety precautions.
