Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Medical Biller to join our growing healthcare team. This role plays a critical part in maintaining an efficient revenue cycle by ensuring accurate billing, proper coding, and timely collection of payments from both patients and insurance providers.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical billing processes, coding systems, and compliance standards, along with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review, and submit medical claims to insurance carriers and patients accurately and in a timely manner
- Ensure proper coding of diagnoses and procedures using appropriate coding systems
- Review patient records for completeness and accuracy prior to claim submission
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims and manage collections effectively
- Respond to patient inquiries regarding billing and account status in a professional manner
- Stay up to date with billing regulations, coding updates, and payer-specific requirements
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to resolve billing discrepancies
- Generate and maintain reports on billing activity, collections, and outstanding balances
Qualifications:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Working knowledge of New York State No-Fault and Workers’ Compensation billing
- Proficiency in medical billing software and practice management systems
- Solid understanding of medical terminology and coding practices, including DRG
- Prior experience in a medical office setting with a focus on billing and collections
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, insurance carriers, and team members
