We are seeking a skilled Electrical Maintenance Technician to support operations at a cement manufacturing facility in Texas. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing industrial electrical systems critical to continuous plant operations.
The ideal candidate must be flexible and able to work a rotating schedule, including days, nights, and some weekends, as required by plant operations. Both temp‑to‑hire and direct hire opportunities are available.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform electrical troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair on plant equipment to minimize downtime
- Maintain and repair low‑ and medium‑voltage systems (480V, 4160V or higher)
- Service and troubleshoot:
- Motors, motor starters, VFDs, and soft starters
- MCCs, transformers, switchgear, breakers, and control panels
- Troubleshoot and support PLC‑based control systems (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, or similar)
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, prints, and P&IDs
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on:
- Conveyors
- Crushers
- Mills
- Bucket elevators
- Material handling systems
- Calibrate and troubleshoot field devices such as:
- Proximity sensors
- Temperature and pressure instruments
- Follow all OSHA, and plant safety procedures
- Properly apply Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and arc‑flash safety requirements
- Work closely with operations and mechanical maintenance teams
- Accurately document work in the CMMS system
- Participate in emergency repairs and on‑call rotations as required
Schedule Requirements
- Rotating shifts required
- Days, nights, and some weekends
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of industrial electrical maintenance experience
- Experience in cement, aggregate, mining, steel, power, or heavy manufacturing environments strongly preferred
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Industrial electrical systems
- Motor controls and VFDs
- PLC troubleshooting (no programming required, but a plus)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and blueprints
- Knowledge of industrial safety standards and procedures
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Electrical journeyman license or equivalent industrial certification
- Experience specific to cement plant operations
- SAP or other CMMS system experience
- Reliability or continuous improvement maintenance experience
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to work in a cement plant environment with dust, noise, heat, heights, and confined spaces
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work at heights, and stand for extended periods
- Ability to wear required PPE including arc‑flash protection
