Banning Lewis Ranch Academy is a tuition-free public charter school authorized by District 49, proudly serving the Banning Lewis Ranch community and surrounding neighborhoods in northeastern Colorado Springs since 2006.

Position Overview:
- The Lunchroom Aide supports the safe, organized, and positive operation of student lunch periods. This role is responsible for supervising students, maintaining a structured environment, and reinforcing school expectations to ensure that lunch is a safe and respectful time for all.
- The ideal candidate is attentive, consistent, and positive—able to manage groups of students while building relationships and maintaining clear expectations.
Core Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Student Supervision & Safety
- Actively supervise students during lunch periods in the cafeteria and designated areas
- Ensure student safety by monitoring behavior and responding promptly to concerns
- Maintain awareness of student needs, including allergies and health considerations
- Support safe movement of students to and from lunch areas
Behavior & Expectations
- Reinforce school-wide expectations for behavior, respect, and responsibility
- Support a structured and orderly lunch environment
- Address minor behavior concerns and communicate ongoing concerns to administration
- Encourage positive interactions, cooperation, and appropriate social behavior
Cafeteria Operations & Organization
- Assist with maintaining cleanliness and organization of the lunchroom
- Support students with basic needs (opening containers, locating items, etc.)
- Monitor student use of space, materials, and equipment
- Help ensure smooth transitions between lunch groups
Additional Responsibilities – Crossing Guard
Employees assigned Crossing Guard duties are responsible for helping ensure the safe and orderly movement of students, families, and pedestrians before and/or after school. Responsibilities include:
- Safely assist students and pedestrians in crossing designated crosswalks in accordance with school procedures.
- Monitor traffic and use approved crossing techniques and equipment to promote pedestrian safety.
- Encourage students to follow established crossing and safety rules.
- Remain alert to potential safety hazards and report concerns, accidents, or incidents to school administration immediately.
- Arrive at assigned crossing locations on time and remain on duty for the scheduled shift.
- Perform duties outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
- Follow all school safety procedures and any applicable local traffic regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Collaboration & Communication
- Communicate effectively with teachers, administration, and other staff regarding student needs or concerns
- Support consistency of expectations across grade levels and lunch periods
- Follow direction from school leadership regarding supervision procedures and routines
Certificates, Licenses, & Registrations:
Criminal background check required for hire: Valid Colorado driver’s license required for hire
CPR and First Aid within 6 months of hire: CPI within 6 months of hire

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, climb or balance, push, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently, including pushing a student who uses a wheelchair. Requires a sufficient range of physical strength, endurance, and mobility to assist in the personal care of students.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work primarily in a school environment.
Mental Functions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate, compare, analyze, coordinate, instruct, evaluate, and use interpersonal skills. Occasionally required to compile, copy, compute and negotiate
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience working with children in a school or childcare setting preferred
- Ability to manage groups of students in a structured environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Must pass a background check

Compensation and Benefits
We offer a competitive compensation package, which includes group insurance (health, dental, and vision), paid sick leave and personal leave, and participation in the Colorado Public Employees’ Retirement Association (PERA) as our retirement plan.

Salary Range: $ $17.00-$23.00 per hour
