Chesapeake Care Clinic is a nonprofit organization established in 1992 to provide medical and dental care services to low-income, uninsured individuals within Chesapeake, Virginia. Our mission is to provide quality medical and dental care to low-income and underinsured residents of Hampton Roads.
Position Summary:
The Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist in providing safe, efficient, and compassionate pharmaceutical services to uninsured patients. The pharmacy technician assists with inventory management, patient education, and administrative duties to promote safe, efficient, and high-quality pharmacy services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing prescription medications.
- Accurately package, label, and distribute/mail medications under pharmacist supervision.
- Notify patients when prescriptions are ready for pickup.
- Maintain medication records and documentation in accordance with clinic policies and applicable regulations.
- Process prescription requests and communicate with providers regarding prescription needs.
- Maintain pharmaceutical inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and monitoring medications.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas in compliance with safety and infection control standards.
- Provide courteous and professional customer service by greeting and assisting patients, collecting and updating demographic information as needed, and communicating medication-related information and instructions to patients under the direction of the pharmacist or medical/nursing staff.
- Assist patients with enrollment and renewal of pharmaceutical assistance programs.
- Maintain accurate pharmacy records and documentation, assists with data collection and reporting, supports quality improvement and accreditation activities, and participates in clinic meetings, staff training, and continuing education programs to ensure effective pharmacy operations and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with providers to determine the most appropriate source for free or low cost medicines.
Work schedule: Tuesdays 9a-5p, Wednesdays 9a-5p, and Thursdays 9a-6p
