The Bar Manager oversees all operations of the bar, ensuring exceptional guest service, high-quality beverage offerings, and smooth day-to-day performance. This role is responsible for managing bar staff, maintaining inventory, controlling costs, developing creative drink menus, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong mixology knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for creating a welcoming and profitable bar experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Bar Operations Management
- Oversee daily bar operations, ensuring efficient service and excellent guest experiences.
- Maintain high standards of product quality, presentation, and consistency in all beverages served.
- Monitor bar cleanliness, organization, and equipment functionality.
- Ensure compliance with all alcohol service laws, health codes, and safety standards.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for bar setup, service, and closing duties.
Menu & Beverage Program Development
- Design and update seasonal beverage menus, including cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic options.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to develop food and drink pairings or promotions.
- Source and maintain relationships with beverage suppliers, negotiating pricing and contracts when needed.
- Stay informed on industry trends, mixology innovations, and local market preferences.
Financial Management
- Manage bar budgets, control costs, and ensure profitability targets are met.
- Monitor inventory levels, oversee ordering, and minimize waste through proper stock rotation and portion control.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile variances.
- Track and report key performance indicators (sales, cost of goods, labor, etc.).
Team Leadership & Training
- Recruit, train, and supervise bartenders, barbacks, and cocktail servers.
- Lead by example with professional conduct, strong work ethic, and guest engagement.
- Conduct regular team meetings and ongoing staff training on mixology, service standards, and responsible alcohol service.
- Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and development.
Guest Relations & Service Excellence
- Create a welcoming and vibrant bar atmosphere that aligns with the property’s brand and service style.
- Interact with guests to ensure satisfaction and address any concerns promptly and professionally.
- Encourage upselling and personalized service to enhance the guest experience and increase revenue.
- Handle guest feedback constructively to drive continuous improvement.
Collaboration & Communication
- Coordinate with other departments (kitchen, events, and management) for seamless service and special functions.
- Assist in planning and executing bar-related promotions, events, and private functions.
Communicate effectively with upper management regarding performance, staffing, and operational needs.

Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; degree or certification in Hospitality, Business, or Restaurant Management preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of bar or restaurant management experience.
- Strong background in mixology, spirits, beer, and wine knowledge.
- Experience in inventory management, cost control, and staff supervision.
