Residential Counselor
The Charlton School collaborates with families to create a therapeutic learning community where a foundation, based on relationships, drives creativity and self-discovery through intensive individualized approaches. Located in southern Saratoga County, we are focused on delivering the right therapy in the right environment in ways that fit our students. The Charlton School provides students with smaller class sizes to support their academic progress, carefully selected peers, multiple forms of therapy to aid with the improvement of their mental health, and qualified professionals who can help students feel safe, connected and empowered. Residential and day students are supported with collaborative treatment plans that include Art Therapy, Equine Therapy, Family Therapy, Social Emotional Learning, among others on a scenic 275 acre campus
Major Duties:
- Responsible for the safety and supervision of students in a dormitory setting - with a focus on the after school, evening, and weekend routines
- Teaching and modeling skills in relationship development, emotional regulation, social attunement, problem solving, and effective daily living
- Completion of appropriate documentation
- Participation in and understanding of all tasks related to the job including, but not limited to, medication distribution, first aid, crisis response, and knowledge of agency policies and procedures
Work Schedule:
- Weekends and evenings required, available shift is Wednesday - Saturday (40 hours)
- Relief shifts also available
Salary/Benefits:
- $23.50 hourly ($48,880 annually) with overtime opportunity at $35.25 per hour, $.75 per hour additional compensation for hours worked midnight-8:00am

Criteria:
- Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
- Associate’s Degree or relevant experience will be considered
- Experience working with adolescents/children required
- Ability to function as an active member of the collaborative learning community
