We are seeking an experienced Asphalt Roadway Technician with active certification to join our growing team. This is a field-based role supporting pavement quality control, earthwork and materials testing, and inspections on commercial and residential development projects.
Responsibilities:
· Perform QC/QA testing and inspection of asphalt mixtures and paving operations;
· Conduct field and plant sampling — density, gradation, extraction, Marshall testing;
· Earthwork monitoring and density testing, general material testing, document test results;
· Prepare daily reports, and maintain accurate field records;
· Communicate effectively with contractors, project engineers, and SCDOT inspectors;
· Identify non-conforming materials and promptly communicate issues.
Requirements:
· Asphalt Technician certification — required at time of hire
· Minimum 1 year of experience in asphalt materials testing or pavement inspection
· Ability to work outdoors in variable conditions and extended hours during active paving operations
· Valid driver's license and good driving record and ability to provide reliable transportation
· A strong work ethic, good communication skills, commitment to safety and quality standards
· ACI, NICET, or nuclear gauge operator certifications a plus
