Bliss Progressive Psychiatry is a small mental health practice in Louisville. We see a limited number of patients, take our time with each one, and care about doing the work well rather than doing a lot of it. Our office is quiet and comfortable and does not feel like a hospital.
We are adding a medical assistant to our team. You would work alongside our nurse practitioner, Mandy Bliss, who is on site every day we treat patients. This is hands-on clinical work without the pace, the patient loads, or the overnight and weekend shifts that wear people down.
Day to day, you would room and prepare patients for treatment, place IV lines, take vitals, keep a close watch on patients during and after their visits, and let Mandy know right away if anything changes. You would also review and prepare charts, triage patient portal communications, manage pharmacy phone calls, prior authorizations, and FMLA paperwork, engage with and onboard new patients, and keep the space calm and clean. A good part of this job is simply being a calm, reassuring presence for someone going through something hard.
We are looking for a medical assistant who:
- Has completed a Medical Assistant training program and has at least one year of experience as an MA or LPN
- Is willing to learn IV placement. Full paid training is provided, though prior IV or phlebotomy experience is very strongly desired
- Holds a current CPR/BLS card
- Is proficient with computers and comfortable with EHRs and patient portals
- Writes clearly, since a meaningful part of this job is written communication with patients and other care providers
- Stays calm and pays attention, especially when a patient’s response shifts
- Likes the idea of working in mental health and treating people with patience
If you have done phlebotomy, infusion, or specialty clinic work, you will feel right at home here, though we care more about skill and temperament than any one background.

Schedule
The schedule is daytime, weekdays only. No nights, no weekends, no holidays, no call. Approximately 16-32 hours per week, with a 30 minute unpaid lunch on days worked longer than 6 hours. In person, with limited remote hours considered on a case-by-case basis after onboarding. Reliable transportation to our office in St. Matthews is required.

Compensation and benefits
- $23.00 - 25.00/hour W-2, based on experience and credential
