About the role
The Production Operator I is responsible for maintaining the flow rate of the products going down the packaging lines by using the appropriate controls. They are also responsible for checking the quality of the products going through the roller. This includes visual inspection as the product rolls through, clearing the roller of any clogged products slowing the roller down and clearing out any discharge product. Production Operator I check the rollers every week for any possible defects in the machines themselves, as well as cleaning out a dumpster and washing off plastic curtains. They are responsible for keeping their areas picked up daily. On occasion, the Production Operator I will have to handle bags of cinnamon for a certain customer but a majority of the time there are set products the company uses and when they are switched, the Production Operator I will change out filters for the tank motors to prevent cross-contamination.
Responsibilities
Safety & Environmental Performance
Support full plant wide compliance with safety rules to further our goal of 0 accidents and encouragement of reporting and correcting near misses.
Adhere to SOPs and other work procedures as required to assure product quality and consistency to our customers.
Identify high-risk safety/productivity issues and help to remedy them.
Encourage employees to look for ways to improve safety and production processes.
Prevention and timely reporting of any environmental issues.
Work Requirements
Ensure that the rollers and all of their components are free from contamination and foreign materials.
Set and maintain rollers to obtain the proper operating conditions and specifications.
Monitor tank temperatures and roller temperatures to ensure that product is maintained at the correct settings and proper operating parameters.
Monitor size, thickness, and appearance of flake to meet the specifications as well as rate requirements
Maintain operator logs, documenting the condition of the rollers, flake specification, and any variance or compliance with standards.
Communicate with the flake room to warn of any problems that may occur.
Complete wash-down/change over procedures and documentation including filter and magnet samples.
Work area must be maintained, kept clean and neat without foreign materials present which may become a possible product contaminant.
Comply with all plant GMP’s.
Perform any and all tasks assigned to you by a member of the GFGB management team, provided that the task is approved by your supervisor.
Once a month, load rollers with bags of cinnamon
Control the rolling rate and performance
Maintain Remelt Systems equipment and product in remelt tanks
Make adjustments to auto weighers to ensure correct quantity of product is being purchased
Cost Control
Contribute to the effort in controlling costs and minimizing waste in product and shrinkage
Reduce the amount of rework by participating in employee involvement, process improvement and adherence to process guidelines
Ensure work is completed to customers specifications
About you
Equivalent education GED
Basic computer knowledge and skills
Able to be a good leader, communicate with people in motivating, good trainer and teacher
Machinery experience.
Math skills and reasonable ability.
Able to apply general mathematical calculations, analysis of variance and other basic standard equations as required.
