Duties
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, caulking, plastering, and applying primers to ensure optimal paint adhesion
- Use hand tools and power tools such as brushes, rollers, airless sprayers, and scaffolding to apply paint, stain, and protective coatings on various surfaces
- Read blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to accurately determine project scope and specifications
- Execute residential and commercial painting projects with precision, including wall coverings, trim carpentry, stucco application, and restoration work
- Perform demolition tasks like removing old paint or wallpaper and repairing damaged surfaces through masonry or drywall repair
- Install fixtures, moldings, trim carpentry elements, and perform renovation tasks to enhance aesthetic appeal
- Apply industrial painting techniques when working on large-scale or specialized projects such as concrete finishing or welding-related coatings
- Maintain safety standards at all times while working on construction sites or renovation projects involving scaffolding or elevated platforms
- Assist with construction estimating for painting jobs by assessing materials needed and project timelines when required
Skills
- Extensive experience with construction site work including framing, remodeling, and maintenance projects
- Strong knowledge of color theory to achieve desired visual effects and finishes
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings for accurate project execution
- Skilled in using hand tools (e.g., scrapers, putty knives) and power tools (e.g., drills, sprayers) safely and effectively
- Familiarity with various painting techniques such as airless spray painting and industrial coating applications
- Ability to perform surface preparation tasks like plastering, caulking, masonry work, and stucco application
- Basic math skills for measuring areas, calculating paint quantities, and estimating project costs
- Experience with carpentry including trim carpentry, frame carpentry, fixture installation and masonry work
- Knowledge of renovation processes involving restoration or remodeling projects
- Hands-on experience with construction estimating related to painting materials and labor costs
- Understanding of safety protocols related to construction painting environments including working at heights or on scaffolding
- Handyman experience that complements core painting skills for versatile project support
