Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards and tailored to meet the needs of students with various disabilities and learning styles
- Utilize instructional modifications and accommodations to support students with developmental disabilities, autism, visual impairments, or other special needs
- Conduct assessments, including standardized testing and progress monitoring, to evaluate student achievement and inform instructional strategies
- Collaborate with special education teams, therapists (speech, behavioral, music), and other professionals to create and update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Manage classroom behavior through positive behavior management techniques and behavioral therapy strategies to ensure a safe and productive learning environment
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding student progress, challenges, and achievements to foster strong home-school connections
- Integrate educational technology tools and learning technology platforms to enhance instruction and engagement across all subjects
Skills
- Proven experience working with children, including those with disabilities or developmental delays
- Strong knowledge of special education law, IEP development, instructional design, and educational compliance standards
- Expertise in curriculum development for early childhood education, literacy education, math, physical education, and recreational therapy
- Skilled in classroom management, behavior management for students with special needs, and applying applied behavior analysis (ABA) techniques
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, parents, and external specialists
- Ability to adapt lessons for diverse learners using instructional modifications and individualized instruction strategies
- Familiarity with learning technology tools, educational software, standardized testing procedures, and assistive technologies for visually impaired or hearing-impaired students
- Experience mentoring or coaching fellow educators in best practices for inclusive teaching environments
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check
