Tax Manager Summary:
The Tax Manager plays a critical role in overseeing tax compliance, planning, and strategy for the firm's clients. They also mentor and supervise staff, foster professional development, and contribute to process improvements to enhance efficiency and service quality.
Tax Manager Responsibilities:
- Oversees client engagements, including tax planning, scheduling, and managing IRS/state audits, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for clients, responding promptly to inquiries and managing tax engagements with proactive communication.
- Develops and maintains strong client relationships, gaining a deep understanding of their businesses to identify opportunities for additional services.
- Represents the firm at industry and regional events to strengthen client relationships and support business development.
- Leads tax compliance engagements, ensuring adherence to professional standards, deadlines, and budget expectations.
- Conducts research and provides guidance on complex tax matters, communicating findings to clients and internal teams.
- Stays current with evolving tax laws and industry regulations, applying this knowledge to client engagements.
- Provides training, mentorship, and supervision to staff, fostering professional growth through career coaching and technical expertise.
- Attains industry-specific knowledge through continuous professional education.
- Participates in community and firm-sponsored initiatives to enhance visibility and strengthen professional networks.
Tax Manager Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
- Active CPA licensure or Enrolled Agent credential required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel and QuickBooks.
- Requires at least seven (7) years of public accounting experience.
- Previous supervisory experience required.
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
