Equipment Service Technician Responsibilities:
- Lubricates and services all golf equipment
- Inspects equipment for operating deficiencies
- Quickly identifies mechanical issues and performs efficient, accurate repairs
- Ensures repairs are completed correctly, safely, and documented accurately
- Prioritizes tasks effectively to support daily golf course operations
- Works safely with tools, chemicals, and heavy equipment
- Communicates equipment needs and issues clearly with supervisors and team members
- Works cooperatively with mechanics, superintendents, and grounds staff
- Proactively schedules and completes routine service to maximize equipment life and reliability
- Performs limited overhaul of engines and hydraulic valves and/or motors
- Sets up and modifies new equipment as needed
- Removes and replaces reels and sets height specifications
- Grinds reels and bed knives and rebuilds reels
- Changes, repairs, mounts, and dismounts tires
- Represents the club with the utmost of professionalism
- Cleans maintenance area and equipment daily
- Follows safety guidelines are followed in the operating procedures and general practice behavior that ensures the safety of the employee, co-workers, members, and guests
- Complies with departmental and Club appearance standards
- Works variety of shifts, as needed to include nights, weekends and/or holidays
- Completes with departmental and Club policies and procedures
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Service Technician Qualifications:
- Valid drivers license to operate club vehicle
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational certification in mechanics preferred
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in small engine repair, diesel or gas engine maintenance, or related mechanical field
- Basic knowledge of hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and preventative maintenance
- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and service documentation
- Capability to lift 50+ pounds and work in outdoor/maintenance environments
Service Technician Critical Skills:
- Working knowledge and applicability of light and heavy golf course equipment and automotive apparatuses
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to relate to a wide variety of people.
- Proactive problem-solving skills
- Must be able to understand and follow verbal/written instructions
- Strong diagnostic and repair skills for mowers, utility vehicles, small engines, and turf equipment
Service Technician Physical Requirements:
- Stands, kneels, bends, climbs, balances, pushes and walks for 95% of workday
- Lifts from 1 pound up to 10 pounds for 90% of workday
- Lifts from 1 pound up to 25 pounds for 50% of workday
- Lifts and moves from 1 pound up to 50 pounds for 25% of the workday
- Stops, crawls, twists, reaches and manipulates equipment and power tools to complete work assignments
- Exposure to mechanical parts, fumes, loud noise levels, and airborne particles
- Work outdoors in inclement weather 90% of the workday
