Angel F. Leal Immigration Law office is seeking a detail-oriented, proactive and empathetic Paralegal to join our growing team. This is a hands-on position and will handle complex matters, contribute strategic insight, while maintaining an active caseload. This role requires experience with USCIS & NVC, form preparation and legal filings, case monitoring, tracking and court deadlines, Interview and Appointment Preparation, Compliance and Recordkeeping and Attorney Support and Strategic Preparation.
Key Responsibilities – USCIS & NVC Immigration Paralegal
Case Intake and Documentation
- Collect, organize, and review client documents according to USCIS and NVC requirements.
- Maintain complete and up-to-date files, including evidence of eligibility and previous forms.
Form Preparation and Filing
- Prepare and review forms for USCIS (Any corresponding form) and track submissions to the NVC.
- Ensure that packages comply with official instructions and are complete to avoid delays.
Case Monitoring and Status Tracking
- Track case status with USCIS and NVC, including receipts, appointments, RFEs, approvals, and transfers.
- Update attorneys and clients on changes and critical deadlines.
- Ensure all notes are put in Clio System.
Communication with USCIS and NVC
- Submit inquiries and service requests in case of delays or issues with USCIS or NVC.
- Maintain records of all communications with agencies and official correspondence.
Interview and Appointment Preparation
- Prepare clients for biometrics, adjustment of status, or consular interviews.
- Coordinate necessary documentation and evidence for USCIS or NVC appointments.
Compliance and Recordkeeping
- Ensure files comply with confidentiality regulations and internal policies.
- Organize follow-up calendars for critical USCIS and NVC deadlines.
Attorney Support
- Assist attorneys with document review, strategy preparation, and case summaries.
- Prepare case timelines to facilitate legal decisions and follow-up management.
Key Responsibilities – Immigration Paralegal (Removal/Court Cases)
Case Management and Documentation
- Collect, organize, and review documents related to removal proceedings.
- Maintain complete and up-to-date case files, including evidence, forms, and court correspondence.
Form Preparation and Legal Filings
- Prepare and review forms and legal documents required for immigration court.
- Ensure all filings are complete and comply with court and legal requirements.
Case Monitoring and Court Deadlines
- Track hearings, filing deadlines, and case status in immigration court.
- Keep attorneys and clients informed of status updates, court orders, and critical dates.
Communication and Coordination with Agencies and Courts
- Coordinate with DHS, EOIR, and other relevant agencies for records and updates.
- Submit evidence, motions, and requests to the court and maintain records of all official correspondence.
Attorney Support and Strategic Preparation
- Assist attorneys with case preparation, evidence review, summaries, and legal strategy.
- Prepare timelines and case summaries to support legal decisions and case management.
End cycle of client cases:
· Ensure close out letter is put in the clients file.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certification preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in immigration law.
- Fluency in English and Spanish, both written and verbal.
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. immigration laws, policies, and procedures.
- Proven ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and professional judgment.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and staff.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and document management systems.Familiarity with USCIS systems, online filings, and government portals.
- Experience with immigration case management software such as Clio or similar platforms.
Pay: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour
