POSITION SUMMARY:
The Executive Director of Elementary Education is responsible for the overall supervision of elementary education in the district. The Executive Director ensures that the highest quality teaching and learning is taking place in safe and welcoming schools, and that all RIDE guidelines are followed.
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

Supervise 13 Elementary Schools in the City of Warwick.

Evaluate building principals at all Elementary schools and WELC.

Supervise/evaluate department secretary.

Conduct site visits, monitor school data, and provide professional learning to Elementary Schools and staff on best practices and district initiatives in tandem with the Curriculum Department.

Assist Elementary Principals with the development of School Improvement Plans that are aligned to the District Strategic Plan.

Support School Principals in resolving day to day matters and investigations.

Ensure effective teacher evaluation models are implemented across all elementary schools.

Work with the Curriculum office in piloting, developing, and implementing curriculum in elementary schools.

Serve on and provide input into District-Level Committees regarding initiatives.

Assist Elementary Principals with the development and implementation of multi-tiered systems of support for academic and SEL/behavioral needs.

Assist with crisis situations.

Assist Elementary Principals in developing and supporting comprehensive student services with a focus on the district’s Vision of a Graduate.

Assist Elementary Principals in developing and implementing progressive school designs that address high standards for teaching and learning/climate and culture.

Prepare and manage the Elementary Budget.

Oversee the scheduling of buildings and hiring of staff at the elementary level.

Address Principal, parent, and teacher inquiries and respond to concerns.

Act as Title IX coordinator, investigator, and/or decision maker.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Certification from the Rhode Island Department of Education as an Elementary Principal/PK-12 Building Level Administrator.

10 years experience as an Elementary Principal.

Title IX certification (or willing to obtain within the first 3 months).

Strong leadership background with evidence of positive Surveyworks scores, solid school academic performance, and highly effective evaluations as principal.

Thorough knowledge of Elementary Curriculum and teaching practices.

Extensive knowledge of standards-based instruction in all core areas.
- Experience in planning and conducting professional learning.
- Knowledge of positive school climate models.
- Outstanding presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills resulting in effective school-based collaborations.
- Strong organizational and writing skills.
EDUCATION:
Master’s Degree from an accredited institution, Doctorate preferred.
