Responsibilities
- Efficiently wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen tools following food safety sanitizing procedures
- Assist with food preparation tasks as needed to support kitchen operations
- Bypass dirty dishes from the dining area to the dishwashing station promptly, ensuring smooth bussing of tables
- Operate kitchen equipment such as dishwashers, sinks, and drying racks safely and correctly
- Handle manual tasks including heavy lifting of large pots, trays, and boxes while adhering to proper lifting techniques
- Maintain high standards of sanitation and cleanliness in all kitchen areas in compliance with health and safety standards
- Support food handling procedures by ensuring all items are stored properly after cleaning to prevent contamination
Skills
- Strong understanding of food safety management and sanitation practices
- Experience with food service environments, including restaurant or catering settings
- Knowledge of food handling procedures and kitchen health and safety standards
- Ability to operate various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Basic knife skills for assisting with food prep when necessary
- Physical stamina for heavy lifting and manual handling throughout shifts
- Excellent teamwork skills to coordinate with chefs, servers, and other kitchen staff
