Position Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients according to individualized patient needs, established nursing standards, and the scope of practical nursing practice. Working under the direction of the Nurse Manager, Registered Nurse, or Physician, the LPN delivers compassionate patient care while supporting physicians and clinical staff in providing efficient, safe, and exceptional gastroenterology services.
Responsibilities
- Obtain, verify, and document patient health histories.
- Perform focused patient assessments and collect pertinent clinical information.
- Collect laboratory specimens for analysis.
- Administer medications and treatments as ordered by the physician.
- Provide direct patient care while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Accurately document patient assessments, treatments, medications, procedures, and test results in the electronic medical record.
- Record colonoscopy history and other required clinical information.
- Assist physicians and other healthcare professionals during examinations, diagnostic procedures, and minor medical procedures.
- Follow physician-approved protocols, standing orders, clinical algorithms, and decision trees.
- Participate in developing and implementing individualized patient care plans.
- Educate patients and families regarding physician recommendations, medications, procedures, and wellness initiatives.
- Maintain strict compliance with infection prevention, patient confidentiality, and safety standards.
- Attend monthly staff meetings and participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of North Carolina.
- Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a healthcare team.
